Lesson Plan for teaching "Vivace non troppo"
I.  Speech Pattern
    A.  Procedure
        1.  Teacher asks students to patsch the steady beat while reciting the first
             part of the speech pattern.
        2.  Teacher repeats step one.
        3.  Teacher asks students to repeat the speech pattern while reciting                 the second part of the speech pattern.
        4.  Teacher asks students to continue patching while she recites the second part of the speech pattern.
        5.  Teacher repeats step four.
        6.  Teacher asks students to repeat the second part of the speech pattern while continuing to patsch.
        7.  Teacher asks students to put both parts of the speech pattern together.

II.  Body Percussion
    A.  Procedure
        1.  Teacher asks students to stand up.
        2.  Teacher shows students the stick notation of the theme on the board.
        3.  Teacher assigns body percussion to the different note values.
        4.  Teacher demonstrates body percussion for the students.
        5.  Teacher asks students to perform body percussion themselves.
        6.  Teacher asks students to perform body percussion with the recording.

III.  Movement
    A.  Procedure
        1.  Teacher asks students to form a circle, facing counterclockwise.
        2.  Teacher asks students to walk to the steady beat while performing the body percussion with the recording.
        3.  Teacher asks students to repeat step two while "turning the phrase."
        4.  Teacher asks students to transfer the rhythmic motive to their feet while clapping the steady beat.

IV.  Unpitched Rhythm Instruments
        1.  Teacher asks students to sit down.
        2.  Teacher distributes varied unpitched rhythm instruments (rhythm sticks and hand drums).
        3.  Teacher asks students holding the rhythm sticks to play the sixteenth notes in the motive.
        4.  Teacher asks students holding the hand drums to play the dotted eighth/sixteenth notes.
        5.  Teacher asks the rest of the students to perform the body percussion for the eighth and quarter notes.
        6.  Teacher asks students to play their parts along with the recording.
